The 15th death anniversary of legendary singer Noor Jehan was observed today. She was born on September 21, 1926. With her mesmerising voice, Noor Jehan was one of the astounding and most influential singers of subcontinent. She was also given the title of Malika-e-Tarannum (Melody queen) in Pakistan.

Noor Jehan started her musical career from Calcutta at the age of nine as a child star. She was also the first female to direct a movie and debuted with her film Chann We in 1951. Noor Jehan recorded about 10,000 songs in various languages including Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and Sindhi.

Madam Noor Jehan died on December 23, 2025 due to heart failure. She was buried in Karachi.
