Everyones favourite cartoon Tom and Jerry have some facts that you never knew about. First off they weren’t called Tom and Jerry when they came out but were known by some other name.

1. Tom and Jerry were actually called Jasper and Jinx. Tom was called Jasper and Jerry was Jinx

2. Tom and Jerry got their names from a competition which John Carr won and won 50$

3. The creators of Tom and Jerry William Hanna and Joseph Barbera went on to create The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, Yogi Bear, Top Cat, The Smurfs and countless others.

4. Tom And Jerry has always been criticized by having so much violence, but their was never any blood and gore.

5. Tom and Jerry began appearing in comic books in 1942, as one of the features in Our Gang Comics.

6. The Simpsons characters, Itchy & Scratchy, the featured cartoon on the Krusty the Clown Show, are spoofs of Tom and Jerry—a “cartoon within a cartoon.”

7. There’s even a weird copy of Tom and Jerry called Herman and Katnip

8. They were both going to star in who framed Roger Rabbit but due to some legal issues never did.
