The Apple iPhone has a bug. No literally, a bug. If you send this specific series of symbols to someone via text message, the recipient’s iPhone will crash.
It’s called an ‘effective power text’. And it doesn’t work if you send it to a Windows or Android phone.

Today, Apple released a statement saying how to fix the phone if it is sent the malicious text.
“Apple is aware of an iMessage issue caused by a specific series of unicode characters and we will make a fix available in a software update. Until the update is available, you can use these steps to re-open the Messages app.”
- Open Siri
- Tell Siri to mark all Messages as read
- Reply to the malicious message
A simple text message has caused a stir in the world. Technology, right?
