Photojournalist and blogger Brandon Stanton who runs the popular page Humans of New York made documentaries and portrait collections of kids suffering from cancer and raised $4 million from more than 100,000 donors in just three weeks.
The project started earlier this year when Brandon wanted to tell a story about childhood cancer to his 2 million social media followers. Stanton contacted Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for this purpose and the administration helped him contact patients and their families.
Dozens of portraits of brave stories were collected for the documentary project Humans of New York, which has been focusing on childhood cancer. Brandon describes the stories as “war stories.”
