Deadly Attack At Istanbul Airport Kills 36, Injures More Than 100 People

Three suicide bombers opened fire and then blew themselves up in Istanbul’s main international airport on Thursday, June 28, killing 36 people and injuring close to 150 people. The attacks happened on a warm summer night at the airport, east of Istanbul, which is the 11th busiest in the world in terms of passenger traffic.

Horrific videos from inside the terminal were posted on twitter showing several travelers running, seconds before one of the blasts goes off.

Another video from inside the terminal shows people fleeing and the bright orange flash of fire from one of the explosions.

The suspects were reportedly armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles, a video footage showed people running for cover inside the terminal building.

Other video from surveillance cameras shows travelers racing out of the airport as a man who appears to be holding a firearm runs by.

This has been the deadliest attack in Turkey this year.


According to a Turkish official Of the three bombers in the airport attack, two were at the international terminal, and the third terrorist was in the nearby parking lot.All three detonated suicide vests.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for a unified international fight against terrorism.
