We make countless decisions in our life everyday. What we fail to remember is that most of those choices we make shape us in to who we are tomorrow. Some may be good, and others bad – but you always have the option of redeeming yourself. So long as you have the satisfaction that of having tried your best – you are good to go. The worst thing to do to yourself is not even try and keep wondering “what if”. No regrets – that should be our ultimate motto.
Here are 11 regrets you don’t want to end up having:
1. Not spending enough time with your family
Whether it’s your studies, work or you being on your gadgets all the time; you miss out on some quality time with your family. DON’T!
2. Stressing over things too much
It may seem like the sky is falling at the time but really, is stressing over things all the time really worth it? NO!
3. Not standing up for yourself
It’s your life and YOU get to make the decisions. Giving someone else the power to rule over you is going to be one of the biggest regrets you’ll have. TRUST ME!
4. Not being honest
Lying comes with a lot of stress and mess. Lie once and you will have to tell a thousand more lies to hide that first one. Instead, DON’T! The truth may look like the hardest thing to do at the time, but in the long run, it sets you free.
5. Not being more forgiving
Holding a grudge is too much time and effort. Why waste your energy on hating someone when you can use all of that energy in loving someone else?! Learn to LET IT GO!
6. Worrying too much about what people say
You want to do something in life; DO IT! People are going to talk and taunt you anyway. Don’t give up on your dreams.
7. Not facing your fears
Living with fears is no life at all. This is your chance, face those fears. OWN them and throw them into the sea. Go skydiving! Hold that snake! Ride that wave! NO fear. Always.
8. Not letting go of your bad decisions
Don’t let your bad decisions define you. If you made a bad decision, it’s okay. You’re only human. Instead of dwelling on the past, it’s best to see what the next big move is. But fix it. Don’t be stubborn or egotistic about your mistakes.
9. Not working to your full potential
If you know that you could’ve worked harder, you didn’t work hard enough. The first step is admitting that you didn’t give it your all. Now go out, work hard and play hard, it’s all worth it at the end.
10. Living in the future instead of the present
Master Oogway, I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Love like there is no tomorrow. Give it your heart and soul. Love your parents, your siblings, your family, your friends, your work, your hobbies, your walk in the park, your pet and most of all, love yourself. And do it with all your heart. Nothing lasts forever. You only have one chance to do it right and not loving with all your heart is the biggest regret you could ever have. LOVE EVERYTHING, LOVE EVERYONE.
