These otherwise normal everyday foods are banned around the world for the most outrageous of reasons.

1. Kinder surprise – USA

The reason the best snack in the world is banned is not because the toy is a choking hazard but because the product contains a non edible product enclosed by an edible one.

2. Ketchup- France

A lot of people just made a decision to never visit France. France has banned ketchup from primary schools because the French believe it is a cultural threat to traditional French cuisine as it masks the flavour of whatever they’re eating.

3. Raw Almonds – USA

In California it is illegal to sell raw almonds, because raw almonds caused a salmonella outbreak. Due to this raw almonds are illegal and the only almonds you can legally buy are the ones that have gone through a cleaning process.

4. Chewing gum – Singapore

Singapore has a high standard of cleanliness. People who chew gum have a bad habit of spitting that chewed gum on the ground. To prevent this Singapore banned chewing gum altogether. Pretty intense if you ask me.

There is a belief that marshmallows contain traces of pork in them. Hence the ban.
